Discovery responses
Served discovery, answered from the file.
First-draft answers to served discovery from the file and your past answers, with the § 92.525 verification, initial disclosures and productions.
Saves time: Answers start from the file and your firm's past answers, not a blank page.
The problem
Why it's hard today
A set of interrogatories and a request for production arrive on a Friday. Most of the answers are already in the file: the crash report, the bills, the chronology. Someone still retypes them into the served format, one number at a time.
The details are where it goes wrong: a corporate defendant's address, an interrogatory count over the limit, a verification page dated before the client signs.
How it works
4 steps, start to finish
- 1
Split and count
Served interrogatories, requests for production and admissions are split into numbered requests. Interrogatories are counted with their subparts, and the count is reported, never trimmed.
- 2
Draft from the file
Each answer starts from the case file and the closest answer in your firm's own answer bank. Questions only the attorney can answer stay marked LEAVE FOR ME.
- 3
Client questions in English or Spanish
A questionnaire collects what only the client knows. Answers come back as items to confirm, never straight into a served answer.
- 4
Verification, disclosures, productions
The § 92.525 verification page is added with the date left blank. Initial disclosures are drafted per defendant, and productions are assembled without cover pages, index or Bates numbers.
Approval: Responses, disclosures and the client questionnaire wait in the approval queue. Service goes out as a Rule 2.516 email only after approval.
Questions
Discovery responses: FAQ
Does the answer bank reuse another client's facts?
A past answer is only a starting point, marked for review. Another client's facts are not this client's facts.
Are initial disclosure deadlines tracked?
Yes. A deadline is proposed per defendant for a person to confirm, and the disclosure is drafted in your firm's format.
How is this different from the discovery tracker?
The tracker shows what each side owes and when. This is where the answers to what you owe are drafted.
Start with one case. Keep the queue.
